The third race of the valuable Tattersalls Millions series went to the 50-1 outsider, I LOVE ME, who fought gamely to win the £200,000 Tattersalls Millions Auction Trophy today at Newmarket. The filly, who was making her racecourse debut for the Andrew Balding yard was bought for 45,000 gns at last year’s Tattersalls October Yearling Sales Book 1 by her owner Neven Botica, who is based in Australia and was making his first purchases at Tattersalls last year.
Trainer Andrew Balding stated after the race that the filly was likely to head to the Tattersalls Millions 2YO Fillies’ Trophy, worth £300,000, which takes place in two weeks time.
The favourite for the race, SIR REGINALD, finished second, one and a half lengths behind the filly, with Clive Brittain picking up both third and fourth place with SHAFGAAN and MADAWI respectively.
The next two races in the Tattersalls Millions are the most valuable of the series, the £500,000 Tattersalls Millions 2YO Trophy and the £300,000 Tattersalls Millions 2YO Fillies Trophy on Saturday 2nd October, 2010 whilst Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale, featuring the only yearlings eligible for next year’s series takes place from 5th – 7th October.
